Christian Cayon, MS
Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, NY
Christian is interested in the intersections between climate change, environmental degradation, and public health. As an undergraduate student, he worked closely with the Director of the Chesapeake Bay Chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) to research and present testimony for the Maryland General Assembly on bills related to renewable energy and public health. He again worked closely with PSR for his senior thesis to analyze the public health implications of Maryland’s recently updated Greenhouse Gas Reduction Act. As a medical student at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, he has worked to integrate climate change and health content into the pre-clinical medical curriculum. Moving forward, Christian wants to more closely research how our built environment and economic inequality contribute to human illness and suffering. Christian will serve as the co-chair of the Emerging Leaders Council (ELC), and the student representative to the Environment and Health National Committee.
